New Babies

17/05/13 7:49 AM

We have some exciting news!

The Osprey’s eggs have hatched! I have been watching over the week and Dolley has been standing more to the side of the nest than sitting on it. It also looks like she is feeding them too! Because they are still nesting on our chimney in the formal dining room, I can hear them as I sit at the table working. It is so sweet to hear their little chirping sounds! We haven’t seen them peek over the top yet, but we can’t wait to see them!

If you look close  you can see a fish in Dolley’s claws!

Dolley is looking right at us!

When the power company checked the nest in March, we had three eggs. If we end up with three babies, we would like to give them names. So we thought it would be fun to have you name them!

So what three names would you like to see them called?

You can enter your ideas here or go to our Facebook Page to add them there!

That is the coolest thing!! I watch the birds from the door panes. They are such little characters. I never knew they ate fish – WOW. I so have to get out more and explore this nature. XOXO – Bacon

  14. Yes Bacon, you must get out and enjoy nature! It is glorious! Yes, Osprey eat the fish from our river. You should see them drop down from way up high into the water and grab the fish! Did you know that they always fly with the fish facing forward? If they pick it up backwards they will turn it around!

  15. PigLove Says:

That is so cool. I’m going to have to look them up the Internet. Now I definitely want to come up there and see this my friend. XOXO – Bacon

  16. 🙂

  18. Thank you so much! I took them from our Riverside Balcony!

  19. Harbin77 Says:

Great pictures and congrats on the baby birds. I had to pit wire mesh over my chimney for the birds would end up in my living room.

  20. Thank you! We are moving them next year to the platform so we won’t have to worry about them coming down the chimney! 😉

  21. Terry Says:

    James, Dolly, and Madison!!!!

  22. Can’t call them James and Dolly because their parents are James and Dolley. It would get too confusing.

  23. lucindalines Says:

Keep with your theme and find more names that suit the era and area.

  24. We are trying to do so.

  25. Anne Bonney Says:

Congratulations! Aren’t they fun to watch.

  26. Thank you and yes, very much so!

  27. susank456 Says:

Awesome pictures! I thought our Robin’s nest with 3 hatchlings was pretty cool, but that’s nothing compared to your babies. So cool.

  28. Thank you so much! They are pretty cool. But I like all parts of nature, big and small!

  29. p3farm Says:

I can’t help but comment, Huey, Duey, and Louie! Can’t wait to hear how many are up there!!

  30. Haha! I was waiting to see the three stoogies too.

  31. Candace Says:

Holly, Molly, Ollie, or other variations…Polly, Wally…

  32. Haha cute!

  33. chrisstov Says:

    Great photos of the Ospreys.

  34. Thank you!

  35. Anne Says:

Jamestown, Williamsburg and Richmond for the three locations that have served as capitols of Virginia. Or you could pay tribute to the Virginia Indians and name them Powhatan, Pocahontas, and Chanco.

  36. Now that is a good thought.

  37. Great photos…cant’ wait to see the place this summer!!

  38. becky6259 Says:

How sweet! What great photos, too — catching Dolley with the fish is a priceless shot! Larry, Moe and Curly are the only names that come to me at the moment off the top of my head, and that’s why my kids are so grateful I picked their names out of baby books instead of thinking them up myself, lol!

  39. Haha I like that! Thank you!
