Every winning bid helps fund our annual Spirits Festival and Red, White & Bluegrass Festival, with proceeds also supporting the Foundation’s Land of Promise Project, our mission to preserve and protect Belle Grove Plantation—the 1791 birthplace of President James Madison—for future generations.

About The Land of Promise Project and our Foundation

Every bid you place helps preserve an irreplaceable piece of American history.

The James Madison Belle Grove Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the Preservation, Restoration, Improvement, Maintenance, and Education (PRIME) of Belle Grove Plantation—the 1791 birthplace of President James Madison in King George, Virginia. Our mission is to ensure that this remarkable historic landmark is protected, restored, and shared with future generations through education, community events, and historic interpretation.

Today, we are embarking on the most important journey in our history through The Land of Promise Project.

The Land of Promise Project is a community-driven campaign to purchase Belle Grove Plantation and place it under the permanent stewardship of the James Madison Belle Grove Foundation. By securing this historic estate, we can preserve its original structures, protect its rich archaeological resources, honor all who lived and worked on the property, and expand educational opportunities that tell the complete story of this extraordinary place.

Funds raised through this Online Auction, the Spirits Festival and the Red, White and Bluegrass Festival directly support our fundraising efforts for the Land of Promise Project and help us continue offering educational programs, historic tours, family festivals, cultural events, and preservation initiatives that keep Belle Grove’s story alive.
