Finding the Glasses
While I was back in Chesapeake today, I decided to do some quick antique shopping. I decided to head over to an antique mall in Virginia Beach that I have found several other items at.
To this point, I had yet to find the glasses and flatware we want for the plantation. But today we finally…. finally found the glasses. I got three sets.
The first set was 25 glasses that are wine, sherry and champagne glasses. I can us the champagne as a fruit or dessert cup too.
The second set was 47 glasses that are tea, wine, champagne and juice glasses.
The last set came as I was checking out. One of the booth owners came over and asked me to look at a set of 12 sherbet glasses. They had been her personal set. She gave me such a good deal I couldn’t say no. We can use them for our Ice Cream Socials.
But the best part of the trip wasn’t finding the glasses!
This antique mall has a resident feline named Bootsie. He is a very friendly cat. He has a box on the counter with bubble wrap in it and his name on it. There are even signs all over the store that asks you to check you car before leaving. I guess Bootsie likes to jump in when you aren’t looking. Today he was just hanging on the counter. As they wrapped up my glasses, Boostie became interested in one of my boxes. I guess he needed to put his “Paw of Approval” on my purchase.
I think I passed…..
“Hey what’s in this box?”
“Did I inspect this purchase?”
“You know, this is kind of comfortable”
“I think I could get use to this”
“Ah yes, time for a cat nap”
“Excuse me, did I speak to you?”
“This is my box!”
“Go find your own box. I was here first!”
‘Hey wait, it that another box?”

I saw these on Facebook earlier. I love glassware. These are beautiful. And the kitty’s help makes a nice touch. My son is staying with me right now, and he brought his cat to stay, too. Fortunately Melody and Rhythm could care less about having a cat in the house.
Optimus (his cat, named for a Transformer) likes to be my legal assistant and sleep on top of my desk!
Thank you! Hurley doesn’t like cats. Millie, my daughter’s cat scares him.
A big dog, scared of a little cat!
Yup
You really scored on the Glasses! Now – as to the shop cat. That is a cat with great attitude. I would come back just to visit him. V.
Thank you! Yes, I think Bootsie does have a nice following.
Lovely pictures of both glasses and the might.
Thank you
I have a set of sherry or port glasses with the hob nob base like that. Sine the new wine bar is being designed from reclaimed products, I think they will work perfectly; but I hadn’t thought of them until I saw yours!
Thank you! How wonderful to have a set too!
It’s important to have cat supervision at any business. 🙂
Yes it is.
I’m glad you found the glasses…but Bootsie ROCKS!
Thank you!
I couldn’t decide which I liked better, the glasses or the cat!!!! LOL
I have to say, it was hard for me too.
I have some pieces of the first set, and I love them. I use them for orange juice when we have overnight guests – perfect! Maybe I should gift them to Belle Grove….I’ll have to think about that!
Oh cool! Then I know I picked a good set! They would be perfect for juice! If you would like to gift them, we would love them, but I wouldn’t want to take them away from your visitors! Thank you!
Beautiful glasses, and what fun “work” it must be to search for glasses and flatware. Sure beats your old work, I’ll bet!
Thank you! Yes it does beat that! One excitement after another!
