The Barbeque Exchange
Gordonsville, Virginia
www.bbqex.com

After our meeting at the James Madison Museum, we heading to our favorite lunch place near Montpelier, The Barbeque Exchange in Gordonsville, Virginia. We found this amazing place several years ago when we first visited Montpelier. It is a very simple restaurant with picnic tables and butcher paper on the tables.

You come in to a line counter to order your food and how hard it is to pick! There are platters and sandwiches galore! And did we mention the desserts? Gourmet cupcakes and chilled desserts! With classic iced tea, I think we could eat here every day!

This is for you “Bacon” and “Baconbiscuit”

According to their website:

“The Barbeque Exchange is the culmination of a 37-year culinary journey. Craig and Donna Hartman’s lives have been centered around the love of food! Their journey took them from the Culinary Institute of America to Gordonsville, Virginia with experiences from the Rockies to the Catskills and lots of stops in between. Craig’s love of all things cooking, and especially over a live fire, led them to a deep love for old school, slow-cooked BBQ.

Inspired by the pit masters they have met over the years, from the Blue Ridge to the Outer Banks, Craig and Donna set out to open a real barbeque joint of their own. Craig’s background in fine dining cuisine has honed his palate, and taught him the significance of great food and great company. “

Here is our picks this day:

Michelle’s Pick
Barbeque Shredded Chicken, Baked Beans and Potato Salad with a Pumpkin Muffin

Brett’s Pick
Barbeque Shredded Chicken, Baked Beans and Macaroni Salad with a Pumpkin Muffin

Just look at this Pumpkin Muffin!
It was a moist as it looks!
Yum!

Peanut Butter Pie
I had to share with Brett… reluctantly.

I love it when you and Brent dine out and tell us all about it. A big smile for the Peanut Butter pie. We made a Mile High Peanut Butter ice cream pie in our first restaurant and it was a big seller on the dessert menu. That was so long ago I had forgotten about it until I read your post. Virginia
