Middle of the Week Vacation
Okay, no getting jealous about this one!
Tomorrow night (Tuesday night), Brett and I are going to be staying at the Inn at Warner Hall in Gloucester, Virginia. You may remember it from our previous post, Nothing ventured, nothing gained posting. Brett has a meeting on Wednesday in Saluda, Virginia with VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) to discuss our entry into the plantation from State Route 301. After that meeting, he is meeting with our surveyor/engineer to discuss the site plan for zoning. So we thought it would be allot easier for him to get there if we slept closer. (That excuse is good as any… haha) After breakfast, I will be returning to Chesapeake and my current job to work.
But we are hoping to be able to look a little closer at Warner Hall and how they have things set up. So far it is the closest to what we want for Belle Grove. We are also hoping to talk with the owners and innkeepers. We hope to gain some answers to questions and learn as much as we can from their experience. I also hope to get some more photos of Warner Hall. It is just so beautiful! And we will be staying in the Robert E. Lee room! There was no James Madison room, so this is the next best thing!
************One Quick Note!**************
Our Indiegogo campaign will be ending in just 7 days! Please consider a small contribution towards helping us Save our History and restore our three outbuildings!
I can’t help it — I’m jealous.
I’ll take pictures and tell you all about it on Thursday. 😉 If it makes you feel any better, I have to drive to work (one hour) the next day.
You guys have fun, well except in those pesky meetings. 🙂
By the way there’s a surprise for you here:
Thank you! And thank you for sharing us with your reader! We really appreciate that!
No problem, Love your blog and the plantation.
I am pea green with envy. A dream of get-away mid week. Almost naughty in a way, but it is about Belle Grover so enjoy. Virginia
Thank you! I need a breather every now and then whew….
We have put several restaurants together from scratch. Dealing with cityhall and other government agencies is very stressful. Please take mini holidays when you can. Then you’ll be able to hit the road running with you move into your new home. V.
I hear you Virginia! It was a nice break for us last night! But things are looking better for the progress so far.
You really do a fine job of presenting your adventures.
Keep it up!
Thank you so much! We plan to!
How gorgeous! Hope you have a lovely time
Thank you! We are looking at it as a working vacation, but I would take this kind of work over what I currently do any day! 😉
Just beautiful as always – showed hubby some of the house and he’s like “where is this???” i think a trip is on the cards just to visit these lovely homes.
I know Brett loves going to them too! He is going to head up there before I can today. Yes, you must come see them!
I’m a little jealous too 😉 Have fun!!!
Don’t be, I will share the fun! 😉
Nice interior shots…
Thank you! I love taking pictures if you haven’t guessed by now.
These places are all so beautiful!
Yes they are! We really enjoy seeing them and sharing them with everyone!
beautiful! enjoy your mini vacation, and let someone else do the work
Thank you! I can’t say I will be letting someone else do the work other than dinner tonight since I have to work today and tomorrow at my current job, but it is nice to finally get to stay there.
well at least you do not have to prepare dinner. i always think a vacation, no matter how big or small is so good for the mind, body, and soul
I’m hoping it will be good for allot of reasons, but mostly to get ideas and shared experiences from the owners. I would rather learn on someone else’s curve then to have to create the wheel myself. Warner Hall has a CIA grad as a chef so I think I might be in the kitchen anyway tonight getting some secrets from him too!
well you can accomplish all of your goals in one visit! enjoy

Beautiful! I love Virginia but have not been to this area…I see a road trip coming this fall!
Thank you! Virginia is really a great state to wander around in. There is so much history, but also so many different cultures within the same state to see. I highly recommend it!
