And We Are Getting Busy

Sep. 21st 2012

This weekend is going to be a packed one! We are heading up to the plantation on Saturday and will be spending the night for the first time! Brett and I are so excited to be able to sleep over. We are also excited because on Saturday, we will have a film crew filming Belle Grove Plantation for a new television show! We can’t tell you just yet what show, but this is going to be exciting! The show is set to air in six months, which will be about the time we are opening the bed and breakfast. Talk about great timing!

Saturday we are also heading to Stratford Hall, home of Robert E. Lee for the 6th Annual Stratford Hall Wine Fest! This fest will be on Saturday, September 22nd from 11am to 6pm and Sunday, September 23rd from 11am to 5pm. There will be 12 wineries including 7 new to the festival, a classic car show on Sunday, Specialty Foods, Live Music, Arts and Craft Vendors, Wine Education Talks, Hay Rides, Barrel Rides, Chocolate Making, Blacksmithing Demonstrations, Colonial Games for kids, Miniature Farm Animals, Wine Stomp, Great House Tours and the Gristmill will be in operation.

On Sunday, we have three appointments. We are meeting a soon to be bride that will be having her wedding in Port Royal next year. She is interested in using Belle Grove as part of her special day. We are also meeting some of the families from Port Royal’s historic colonial homes. They will be visiting Belle Grove for the first time in many years.

Our final meeting will be with a reporter from the Fredericksburg Free Lance Star. She will be doing the first of several reports on our progress and opening for the local paper. She will be bringing a photographer with her. I will let you know when the piece comes out and will post it once it has.

Whew… what an exciting weekend! I can’t wait to share our adventures on Monday next week!

Be on the lookout at the end of next week! We have a wonderful surprise we are going to be announcing!!
