You will find refreshments and coffee station in our Common Room. There is a second coffee station on the 2nd floor for our Madison and Turner Suites.
The plantation is open for you to enjoy. We have three outbuildings located on the north side of the mansion. These outbuildings date back to the 1720. Due to their condition, we ask that you not enter them. We are working on restoring them and will have them open in the future.
The plantation has a caretaker house located on the north side of the mansion. While no one reside there, please do not enter.
The plantation is 694 acres. Most of the acres are leased to a local farmer. Please be respectful of their fields and do not enter or pick their crops. There is a farm road that runs through the fields. You may walk this road. We do have a hunt club that has permission to hunt the plantation.
We have a wooded area on the south side of the mansion. We do not recommend entering this area at this time. This wooded area does have wild life that may pose a danger to you.
The Rappahannock River is a beautiful river to see. We ask that you not enter the river on the plantation side. This area is a channel that is used by commercial traffic and can be dangerous.
The small church located at the entry of the plantation is Emmanuel Episcopal Church and cemetery. The one acre lot the church sits on was donated in 1859 by The Turner Family of Belle Grove Plantation. At the back of the church you will find a family cemetery that many of the families that lived at Belle Grove Plantation are buried.
Belle Grove Plantation is a wonderful place if you love nature. With the 694 acres of both fields and woods, you have the opportunity to see wildlife and birds galore. We have seen deer, wild turkey, groundhogs, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, snakes, eagles, osprey, and even a squirrel or two. But with all the wildlife in our area, you will need to remember to respect their distances. If you come across wildlife, please keep your distance. Do not try to feed or approach them.
As any place in the country, we do have bugs outside. We try very hard to keep them for coming into the mansion. If you come across a bug, please let us know. We will be happy to remove it for you. We do want to know if they are there so we can contact our pest control and have them correct the issue. We do treat the grounds and try to keep them under control.p
