Back from Washington DC
I left on Monday to go to Washington DC for a meeting with my current job. We stayed at the Gaylord National Event Center in National Harbor, Maryland. We also had our meeting there on Tuesday and Wednesday. I have to say this place is huge! You need a road map just to find your room! It was amazing with the beautiful interior atrium and all the interesting landscaping and yes, two townhouses!
While it was really beautiful, as a guest, you seemed to just get lost in the massive amounts of people that were there. The customer service was pretty good, if you ever got to see anyone. But I think after staying there, it reminded me how much I love the intimate atmosphere you get with a bed and breakfast. This was more like visiting Disney World.

Lovely…I’ve been to a Gaylord hotel in Nashville! Had Thanksgiving there one year. Yes, your B n B will be very nice, except it looks fairly big! How many rooms will you have for sleep?
Thank you! We have four total, two junior suites and two master suites. They are pretty large, but very comfortable!

Your pictures remind me of Gaylord’s Opryland in Nashville.
I think there are several around the country. There is also on in Orlando.
Reminds me of a time long ago when I went to Washington D.C. for a trade show. I spent a lot more time at the hotel and convention center than I wanted to. I finally got a half day to hurry around and visit what I could before flying home.
DC is wonderful when it comes to history! I could spend weeks there and still not see everything!

I was there last year for the International Conference of Women’s Shelters! And yes, I spent the first two days lost. It was an amazing place as all of Washington was to this little Canadian.
Lost is what I was the first day, but I got my bearings quickly. I hope if you ever make it back down from Canada, you might find our plantation a little less confusing. 😉
I like the lit fountains and the townhouses. Atriums with hotels always seem to overwhelm me though.

This is a city! With population easily comparable to Brussels for sure!

Good luck with your endeavor! I grew up in historic Annapolis, MD, and there are some beautiful historic hotels and homes on tour that might give you some ideas! My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Governor Calvert House, which is one of the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The Inn has an atrium built off the back of the original home with modern wings on either side, looking down on the atrium. It is much smaller than the Gaylord, but it is a great example of “marrying” old with new. Another idea: maybe you could work a deal with the Fredericksburg paddle wheeler to have lunch cruises from your dock!

Beautiful and impressive hotel, especially the colorful fountains! I am a little like you, though, in that I don’t care for heavy-duty crowds in places where I am staying, but it looks like the place where you work spared no expense for this trip!
