Did you know that there are two Belle Grove Plantations in Virginia?

Belle Grove Plantation in King George, Virginia was established in 1670 and named by James Madison’s step-grandfather John Moore. After the Conway family sold Belle Grove Plantation to John Hipkins in 1790, James Madison’s sister, Nelly Madison Hite and her husband Major Isaac Hite built a home in Middletown, Virginia and named it Belle Grove Plantation after our plantation. Since opening Belle Grove Plantation in King George to the public in 2013, there have been a few that have gotten the plantations confused. The Middletown Belle Grove is a National Museum and a wonderful place to visit. However, they do not have a bed and breakfast in the mansion. Please make sure when inputting Belle Grove Plantation in your GPA or sending the address in your invitations, you have the correct address for our plantation. There are 2 hours between each of the Belle Grove Plantations.
